My thoughts on last nights Laker Game
A couple observations about last night's Laker/Jazz game....
1. Neither of these teams will be in the Western Conference finals
2. The most exciting part of the game was the post-game comments of Charles Barkley (at one point I was actually wishing the game would hurry up and be over so I could hear Barkley rip apart how bad both teams are)
3. I don't think there was one time the camera panned over to Jerry Sloan and he wasn't saying the "F" word (and I don't mean fudge).
4. Kobe Bryant shoots way too many shots and most of them were very poor shots. I finally have seen the light that he is a ball hog.
5. The Utah Jazz have to be nominated as the NBA's ugliest team (not in regards to play, but appearance of their players) ie. see Andrei Kirilenko, Gordan Giricek, Keith McLeod, Greg "two teeth" Ostertag, and by far the worst Mehmet Okur (his parents must have known how he would look when they named him Mehmet - sounds like a star wars alien).
6. The refereeing was horrible in this game. I believe a foul was called on every single shot, including on Kobe Bryant at the end of the game, and maybe half of them were actually fouls. That is why the game wasn't over until about 11pm.
7. I would normally feel like a team got robbed on a call like that (the fould on Kobe at the end of regulation), but Utah played so bad I don't feel like they should have received a win even if they didn't call that foul.
Anyways those are my thoughts....sorry Mike.
5 Comments:
I will not make a long comment because I am still mad. Sure the Jazz didn't deserve to win it, but the Lakers gave it up and then the ref handed the game to the Lakers. They are two teams that need a true leader (which Kobe is not). That is all I will say so I don't sin with my mouth.

wait a minute here, Kobe Bryant is a ball hog, and he has lost some games for his team this year, BUT, Mitch has done an extremely poor job with this roster.
Jeremy, don't fall off the Kobe train quite yet.
And Mike, I still think that no team in the Association can ever win if they have more white starters than black guys. The Jazz are very suspect in the black-to-white ratio.

Hey Jeremy, nice blog. To follow up with what Clyde has said, the Lakers are arguably the most successful franchise in all of professional sports. Since the NBA finals started in 1947, the Lakers have appeared in the finals 22 times. That's 38%, for those keeping score at home. That's just unparalleled. And the good ol' Laker front office has single-handedly dismantled this team. Mitch is clearly totally incompetent. You know what you do when you have Kobe and Shaq on the same team? You give them *anything* they want. ANYTHING. "Well, Shaq isn't happy playing here so maybe it's best . . .." Then make him happy. Make him mayor. You don't "trade the aging big guy." I'm very bitter.

it's just a game.
