Photo Manipulation

This was a picture of Hilary and I walking along the beach
at Pebble Beach (actually Tera McGuire drew a picture of
us and we have it framed in our home) and I imposed us
with some lighting effects into a cool desktop I had downloaded

Here is photo of Hilary and I in Jamaica (she had something in her
eye and I was trying to get it out) on our honeymoon. I have placed us
in some sort cool canyon - that sign got in the way!

This One's For Mike

Denny's Beer Barrel Pub has a six pound burger that “you can actually get this meat monster for $23.95, load with all the fixins: Two whole tomatoes; A half-head of lettuce.12 slices of American cheese; A full cup of peppers; Two entire onions; Plus, a river a mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard.” And one free trip to the restroom then to the hospital.

Best Food Ever

It's my lunch time now and I am going over the different types of food I enjoy - and I think I have figured out my top 3 foods:

#3....
SUBMARINE SANDWICHES

I love sub sandwiches. However, I don't think of Subway as a true sub sandwich. I hate Subway - I only eat it when I have to. Quizno's and Togo's are better, but still not as good as those little hole in the wall sub places. There is just something about that nice soft bread and heaps of meat and dressings all wrapped in one....I would suggest Balboa Sub Shop or DeFranco's.

#2....
CINNAMON ROLLS

Not widely considered a meal, I could eat a cinnamon roll for breakfast or dessert anytime. They are so gooey and good. I do not like the cheap store bought bakery cinnamon rolls that are usually dry and don't have enough icing and cinnamon (which you can't get enough of). The Pillsbury rolls you cook yourself are pretty good, but I must say I am a huge fan of Cinnabon. Granted, your heart stops sometimes while eating them and sometimes you can't feel your legs as well, however, they are the gooiest and the most scrumptious I have tasted!

#1....
STEAK

Let's all admit it...if done properly a huge slab of steak is breathtaking. I love all types of steak, but filet mignon is the best. Although, one of the best steaks I have ever had was an awesome Rib-eye from TPC. Unfortunately, I have never been to Ruth's Chris, but it is on my list to do. I have also heard that Morton's is good (gotta go there too). The best steaks are the one's that are medium rare and you can cut it with a fork, but you still use a knife because it's manly.

An honorable mention has to go to:
A good cheeseburger
My wife's creamy pasta
Tri tip
Coco pebbles
OK - I am officially starving and need to go eat. I will probably make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Hamburger Hamlet :To be or not to be?

Has anyone ever eaten at Hamburger Hamlet? (or weinerschnitzel for that matter?) I mean the concept sounds good - Hamburgers, and I love hamburgers. But an alarming thing happened the other day which possibly killed my desire to try it out for the first time. There is a HH on the Old Road right before Magic Mountain Pkwy that I drive by a couple times every week. Yesterday I was driving by and for the third time I saw an ambulance parked out front with it's lights swirling. The fact that I don't go by there everyday and have happened to see 3 ambulances responding to some type of call at the establishment at various times worries me. That's some pretty poor PR for the place. But I guess if you are a regular there you are not that concerned about your health, and a petty ambulance is not going to take away from you getting your burger fix. I think for now I am going to stick to In N Out and other healthy establishments...my curiosity may never be satisfied! You can check out their burger menu here. I like the platter of baby cheeseburgers!

Along the same lines - I found this report quite interesting but not surprising. Check out the whole story here.

Home Cooking

Above is a picture of the line to get Broncos tickets for their SECOND playoff home game! It was such a great feeling to watch the Broncos beat the two time defending champion Colts. They spent the whole game making Tom Brady look frustrated and confused. When Champ Bailey intercepted a potential NE Touchdown, I just knew we were destined to win the game. I had complete confidence in my team all week, but as you listen to the endless sports radio banter you sometimes begin to lose some of that confidence. The weekend just got that much better when Pittsburgh beat the Colts and allowed us to play another HOME game. This is huge, as Denver has won 9 straight games there this season. I am sure all the talk will now be all about Pittsburgh as the Broncos really get no press, but I don't really care because we are one win away from Superbowl 40. Man - I love football!

24

Don't be too jealous, but I was rewarded with this desktop wallpaper image when I beat the 24 game on the fox website! What a great show - it's good to see it coming back on the air!

Good Ole Fresno

I found this on the web and couldn't help but comment on it:

Strange But TrueBubble or Nothingby wil b. strange
So, you think you can blow a big bubble with gum, do ya?
Maybe one about six inches in diameter? Maybe eight? Maybe even one as big around as your head?
That's nuthin'. How 'bout a bubble almost two feet across!!
No joke. Susan Mont"gum"ery Williams of Fresno, California, chompin' on three pieces of gum, huffed and puffed till she had a 23-inch whopper way back in July 1994.
Pretty impressive. Nobody else has come close, but the Dubble Bubble folks are trying by holding an annual National Bubble Blowing Contest.
A couple of years ago, Adam Feagley, a 12-year-old from Florida, won the first-ever contest with a 17-inch bubble!
The key, says the champ, is to "blow very slow." Don't laugh. For his victory, Adam picked up a $10,000 savings bond and an all-expenses paid trip to Disney World! He also was flown to New York for some TV appearances. "I only hope I end up on Rosie," Adam said.
Adam's winning orb still stands as the biggest in Dubble Bubble competition. Last year's winner, Anna Hansen, also from Florida, took the prize with a 13-incher.
The secret to bigness? The Dubble Bubble Web site (dubblebubble.com, what else?) recommends five pieces of gum and a teaspoon of peanut butter. And you should chew the gum at least five minutes to dissolve the sugar.
The site says, "To blow a bodacious bubble, really stick out your tongue so that you can get a really huge bubble pocket."
Well, duh!

Several things stand out here:
1) this was posted on www.christianitytoday.com, what in the world does this have to do w/ Christianity? I am glad to see the depths of journalism they are reaching over there at the online magazine. http://www.christianitytoday.com/cl/2002/002/23.70.html
2) Was anyone surprised that this girl was from Fresno?
3) People actually care about this enough to report it...what is this world coming to.

Sideways

Have u ever watched a television show or seen a movie, or have just been browsing through a store and heard a song catch your ear that you really like? I know this has happened about 10-12 times in my life. Have you tried endlessly to figure out what song it was you heard? I have found a pretty sure-fire way to figure out a song. The key is to find the hook or repeated chorus and memorize a line or two. Once you have this memorized just put that line in parentheses in the google search engine and bingo - 9 times out of 10 you will get your song! I wish I had thought of this earlier - I am sure I have missed out on 4 or 5 great songs that I heard once and never again (is this really a good song then?) Anyways, this happened to me tonight. I had flipped through some channels and heard a song come on at the end of a show on NBC...all I caught was "these feelings won't go away" and he said it several times. So I went and put it into google and sure enough, after a little digging it came up with "Sideways by Citizen Cope". I was quite happy with my new findings. After listening to the whole song I was quite happy with my itunes purchase, and now have another "rainy day" song in my repertoire. If you get a chance, check out the song, it's pretty cool. Anyone else have any mystery song success or failure stories. Another one is "Breathe Me" by Sia. I love random songs. However, I have noticed that if you really like a song from a movie, they rarely sound as good when you just listen to it w/o the visuals you were seeing. Video adds so much to the emotion of a song.

Marcus Vick

For those of you who follow sports, specifically college football, have been amazed by the absolute idiotic on and off field antics by Michael Vick's younger brother Marcus Vick. Blessed with the ability to play Div. 1 football and possibly a shot at an NFL team, Marcus Vick has destroyed his future this past week. For the full story read here. To summarize, he helps his team win the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2nd. By Jan. 5th he is kicked off his team for several on and off field incidents - the last being a wicked and cheap shot "stomping on the left calf" of the opposing teams player. To make it worse, he tells everyone he feels bad and had apologized to Dumervile (the opposing player he had stomped on). Dumervile denies any such action by Vick. Apparently there had been other things that had led up to him being kicked off the team. And let's just say in the actions of today's college athletes you have to do a lot to be considered worthy of being kicked off a team (especially as the starting QB). I say good for Virginia Tech for having the guts to kick off the star player of the team. So what does Marcus Vick do after being kicked off. He declares himself ready to enter the NFL draft! Though good, Vick has nowhere near the talent of his older brother, who is having enough trouble himself being successful in the NFL. Basically, this is a cop out move because he has nowhere else to turn. Apparently, Vick felt he had not received enough media attention and so he decides to pull a gun on a kid in a McDonalds. "Police said the parents of a 17-year-old boy reported that Vick pointed a weapon at their son and two others during an altercation Sunday night at a McDonald's in Suffolk, a southeastern Virginia city where Vick's mother lives". Of all places...McDonald's...people are trying to enjoy their #2 plain w/ cheese only, and some idiot decides to pull out his gun. No respect. If convicted, Vick could face several years in McJail! Let's hope he does us all a favor and goes there. What a testimony to the immaturity and lack of any moral conviction that so many of today's college athlete's have. It's a good thing we still have the good ole' NFL to watch mature and level headed players still play for the love of the game!

New Blog

To keep the "miscellaneous" and often "mundane" posts from the more serious in nature, I have started a new blog .
